PASSENGER proposes improved strontium ferrite (Sr-ferrite) and a Manganese-Aluminum-Carbon (MnAlC) alloy as a substitute to guarantee a sustainable production of permanent magnets in Europe: an alternative without critical raw elements, based on resources that are widely available in Europe, with enough research to provide a solid base for a successful transition from the lab to the industrial production in our Pilot Plants.

The 28th International Workshop on Rare Earth and Future Permanent Magnets and Their Applications (REPM 2025) will be held in Tsukuba, Japan, hosted by the National Institute for Materials Science. This international event brings together experts from academia and industry to share research and developments in the field of permanent magnets.

FisMat is a large Italian conference on condensed matter physics. At this year’s event, EU projects GREENE, BEETHOVEN and MagNEO are jointly organising a thematic workshop titled “Advances in Permanent Magnets for Sustainable Solutions: Towards the European Green Deal”, focused on recent progress in permanent magnet technologies and their role in supporting the European Union’s climate and sustainability goals.

The workshop aims to be a forum for discussion and knowledge exchange on the latest advances in permanent magnet research, covering the development of conventional REE magnets, as well as the design of novel REE-free materials with the potential to enable a partial substitution. Discussions will span both experimental approaches and multi-level simulation perspectives.

Registration is now open for the 7th Italian School on Magnetism: Magnetic Nanomaterials. The school follows a series of highly successful bi-yearly schools, which started in Pavia in 2012 and are promoted by the Italian Magnetism Association (AIMagn).
