FisMat 2025 – Advances on Permanent Magnets for Sustainable Solutions: Towards the European Green Deal

7 July 2025

Where: San Giobbe Economics Campus, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Italy

When: July 7–11, 2025

FisMat is a large Italian conference on condensed matter physics. At this year’s event, EU projects GREENE, BEETHOVEN and MagNEO are jointly organising a thematic workshop titled “Advances in Permanent Magnets for Sustainable Solutions: Towards the European Green Deal”, focused on recent progress in permanent magnet technologies and their role in supporting the European Union’s climate and sustainability goals.

The workshop aims to be a forum for discussion and knowledge exchange on the latest advances in permanent magnet research, covering the development of conventional REE magnets, as well as the design of novel REE-free materials with the potential to enable a partial substitution. Discussions will span both experimental approaches and multi-level simulation perspectives.

Presentations and posters will be delivered by contributors from several major European and national initiatives. These reflect a broad effort across research and industry to improve materials performance while reducing environmental impact.

GREENE will be represented by César de Julián from the Institute of Materials for Electronics and Magnetism of Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), also part of the organising committee.
