REPM 2025 – The 28th International Workshop on Rare Earth and Future Permanent Magnets and Their Applications

27 July 2025

Where: Tsukuba International Congress Center, Tsukuba, Japan
When: July 27– 31, 2025

The 28th International Workshop on Rare Earth and Future Permanent Magnets and Their Applications (REPM 2025) will be held in Tsukuba, Japan, hosted by the National Institute for Materials Science. This international event brings together experts from academia and industry to share research and developments in the field of permanent magnets.

Topics covered include:

  • Raw materials, mining, and supply chains

  • Environmental impact and recycling

  • Processing and properties of RE-Fe-B, RE-Co, and RE-nitride magnets

  • Rare earth-free magnet development

  • Nanocomposite and thin film magnets

  • Additive manufacturing and unconventional processing

  • Advanced characterization and modeling

  • Machine learning and high-throughput techniques

  • Emerging applications including magnetocalorics

As part of the REPM 2025 programme, three partner representatives of the GREENE project will present on key developments in the field of rare earth permanent magnets:

Prof. Dr. Carlo Burkhardt of Pforzheim University, Germany, will speak on “Recent developments in recycling of RE permanent magnets of the RE-Fe-B type: Challenges and solutions.” His presentation is scheduled for July 29, from 1:50 to 2:10 PM

Prof. Dagmar Goll of Aalen University, Germany, will present about “Rare earth permanent magnets with a high cerium content” on July 28, from 1:30 to 1:50 PM.

Prof. Thomas Schrefl of UWK – University for Continuing Education Krems, Austria, will speak on “Artificial Intelligence Assisted Optimization of Permanent Magnets” on July 31, from 1:30 to 2:00 PM.
